Check they're current
Licences lapse, get suspended or change class. Spend two minutes on these three public registers before you sign a contract or pay a deposit.
Licence is current
Search the business name. The status should say current, the class should cover your job, and the name should match your quote.
QBCC · Licensee register · my.qbcc.qld.gov.au
ABN is active
Search the ABN on your quote. It should be active and registered to the same business name.
Australian Business Register · ABN Lookup · abr.business.gov.au
No disciplinary record
Look for suspensions, cancellations, fines, orders or complaints against the builder.
QBCC · Suspended licences register · my.qbcc.qld.gov.au
These links go to official government registers. find.builders doesn't check them for you, and a listing on this site isn't proof of a licence. Each link opens in a new tab.
